Job Description
As a UAS Flight Test Operator I/II, you will join a dynamic field team dedicated to supporting the flight validation of innovative drone platforms. This role involves hands-on data collection, troubleshooting, and iterative improvement cycles during flight testing.
Responsibilities
- Execute structured drone test flights in both manual and autonomous modes, adjusting parameters in real-time based on evolving test plans.
- Perform daily pre‑ and post‑flight checks, manage batteries, prepare equipment, and support on‑site logistics to ensure test readiness.
- Operate in field environments with extended standing, repetitive drone handling, and exposure to varying outdoor conditions such as heat, dust, cold, and wind.
- Adapt to shifting schedules, including early mornings, late afternoons, and variable hours based on test conditions; approximately 20 travel required.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to validate flights.
- Contribute to the development of autonomous aerial systems through curiosity, adaptability, and proactive problem‑solving.
Essential Skills
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- 100+ flight hours in varied environments with experience in FPV/Acro Mode
- Experience with FPV/Acro mode under visual line of sight (no goggles)
- Demonstrated experience with multi-rotor UAS operations
- Working knowledge of FAA small UAS regulations and operational best practices
- Strong situational awareness and adherence to test-site safety standards
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with fixed-wing RC aircraft operations
- Familiarity with firmware such as PX4, ArduPilot, Auterion, and Herelink
- Previous work in structured flight test environments or R&D programs
- Technical experience in UAS systems, aerodynamics, or flight controls integration
- Ability to record and share video footage of recent acro line-of-sight FPV flights for evaluation
Work Environment
This role requires working onsite in Oakland and Bay Point, CA, within a Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm schedule. Candidates must be local or within commuting distance. The work involves operating in various outdoor conditions, ensuring a dynamic and engaging work environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
