We are the largest provider of Air Ambulance Services in BC; we move Air Freight daily between BC and Alberta; and provide pilot training in association with Okanagan College.
We are looking for a driven, dedicated and reliable individual who works well in a team environment and is results oriented to join our Kelowna team. The Groomer reports to a Crew Chief and is responsible to safely, efficiently, reliably and thoroughly clean the exterior and interior of company aircraft, provide assistance to the AME’s as directed and participate in hangar clean up as required.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY
Safety
All work must be always undertaken with personal and aircraft safety in mind including:
- Wearing of all required personal protective equipment - Safety glasses will be issued and always worn; ear plugs are available and will be worn when aircraft are running; gloves will be worn inside the medical aircraft at all times; while working with any chemical, safety glasses, gloves and if required, a respirator will be worn
- Reasonable shoes that are done up will be worn (Running shoes, hiking boots or work boots – no sandals or open toed shoes at all).
- Becoming familiar with the location of the safety equipment, fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
- Understanding and applying safe handling practices with the aircraft.
Aircraft Grooming
Ensuring that all assigned aircraft are properly groomed and prepared for flight each night by:
- Cleaning the exterior of the aircraft. This means washing the outside, top and bottom, cleaning (gears well or gearwells) by hand, cleaning wheels and nacelles daily.
- Cleaning the interior of the aircraft – floors, seats, walls, med beds and sleds.
- Prioritizing grooming to be done by following Crew Chief’s direction.
Hangar Clean up
Contributing to the general housekeeping in the hangar by taking responsibility for own work area and taking initiative to do other hangar clean up as time permits or as directed, including:
- Upon completion of assigned aircraft grooming ensuring that own work area is thoroughly cleaned up – squeegee the floors, put the hose and brushes away, clean the buckets, and maintain all the washing equipment.
- Cleaning of hangar floors
- Cleaning of common areas
- Any other Hangar or facilities clean up as directed by the Crew Chief.
AME Assistance
Helping the AME’s as directed including:
- Cleaning parts, cowlings or panels and, in the event the cabin or cockpit detailed inspection comes up, detail cleaning of all the removed equipment
- Assisting in the removal panels or other access for inspection, done with hand tools only, only the panels shown will be removed, and absolutely nothing will ever be installed or otherwise touched.
- Responding positively to work direction from Crew Chiefs or senior AMEs
- Working cooperatively with other members of the crew
- Taking initiative to work to full capabilities
- Other duties as assigned.
