SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

This position is responsible for inventory management, as well as unloading and loading trailers and transport materials of product to or from the warehouse. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. With the use of a CDL License, move trailers to and from dock doors for loading and unloading
  2. Unload / load materials and products from trailers to the warehouse or onto trucks.
  3. Pull material / products from racks and transport to production or loading dock.
  4. Must be able to safely operate stand up and sit-down forklifts to transport, stack, and load material.
  5. Assure accurate counts of material being loaded or unloaded and perform periodic cycle count inventories
  6. Perform bar code transactions for product movement and inventory.
  7. Must know all the required shipping paperwork. 
  8. Initiates sign-off procedure for incoming damaged product
  9. Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers

Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S. 
  2. Participate on project teams, star point teams and kaizen events when needed.
  3. Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role

Responsibilities

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:

  • Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader
  • Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may be subject to:

  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment
  • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels
  1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing)
  2. Standing is required for extended periods of time.  Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis
  3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions
  4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

                                               

Education:

High School diploma or GED preferred

Experience:

Previous experience in manufacturing preferred

Preferred Skills/ Qualifications:

  1. CDL highly preferred
  2. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  3. Sound decision making skills
  4. Good math, reading and writing skills
  5. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual and audio attention

Skills/ Competencies:

1.   Basic computer skills 

2.   Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks

3.   Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail

4. Must be able to operate material handling equipment and hoist, if needed

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to operate material handling equipment

2. Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures

3. Ability to work outdoors occasionally
