ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM
As a Product Business Case Modeler, you will be at the critical intersection of finance, strategy, and product innovation, ensuring robust financial planning and evaluation for in-house product development, product turnarounds, and potential M&A activities. Your expertise in financial modeling, strategic assessment, and risk management will guide key investment decisions, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives.
A core focus of this role is leading the end-to-end business case development process, from initial feasibility analysis to post-implementation tracking, ensuring financial viability and measurable returns on investment (ROI). You will act as a strategic finance partner, collaborating with product managers, R&D, and senior stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Business Case Leadership & Strategic Decision Support
- Own the business case (BC) development process, ensuring investment proposals are supported by rigorous financial modeling, scenario analysis, and clear ROI frameworks.
- Develop structured financial models that quantify investment requirements, revenue potential, and expected profitability.
- Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to assess potential risks, opportunities, and strategic fit.
- Ensure that all investment cases are aligned with corporate objectives, balancing growth, profitability, and financial sustainability.
- Act as a finance thought leader, bringing forward new insights, benchspans, and best practices to improve decision-making.
Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams to gather key assumptions, validate financial forecasts, and refine business case narratives.
- Provide clear financial insights to senior leadership, supporting investment decisions through data-driven storytelling.
- Guide teams through the approval process, ensuring financial assumptions are well-understood and effectively communicated to executive stakeholders.
- Influence cross-functional teams by championing financial accountability and strategic prioritization.
Performance Tracking & ROI Management
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the financial and operational success of funded business cases.
- Develop post-funding review frameworks to monitor actual performance against projected outcomes.
- Identify and report performance gaps, proposing corrective actions or strategy adjustments where necessary.
- Ensure continuous feedback loops are in place to refine future investment decisions based on real-world outcomes.
M&A Financial Analysis & Modeling & Integration
- Lead comprehensive financial due diligence for M&A opportunities, evaluating potential synergies and financial impacts.
- Develop detailed acquisition models, including sensitivity analysis, cost structures, and spanet positioning assessments.
- Assess potential risks and value creation opportunities, supporting leadership in negotiation strategies.
- Collaborate with the portfolio team to ensure post-acquisition integration aligns with strategic and financial goals
- Contribute /lead on the financial integration processes, and ensure that the performance frameworks are in place and adjusted post acquisition and the M&A business case KPIs and ROI and understood by the business stakeholders with set targets and tracking/ reviews mechanisms in place
Risk Management & Financial Optimization
- Identify financial risks associated with investments, proposing mitigation strategies to enhance decision confidence.
- Continuously monitor investment performance, providing proactive insights to optimize financial returns.
- Contribute to the refinement of capital allocation strategies, ensuring investments maximize shareholder value.
Qualifications
ABOUT YOUR SKILLS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certifications (CFA, CPA, CIMA) are a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, business case development, and/or M&A financial modeling.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and sensitivity analysis.
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in scenario planning and ROI tracking, with a detail-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel modeling techniques.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
