The Microwave Communications Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide system monitoring, annual preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance response and repair, circuit configuration and site inspections at USCG Base Honolulu, C5I Department, and remote communications sites throughout the Hawaiian Islands during established working hours of Monday to Friday 0700- 1500 HST. Utilizing the existing system monitoring system at Base Honolulu, C5I Department the SME must perform daily checks for system alarms andrespond as required for repairs to reestablish full operational capability of system equipment.
The SME must complete preventative maintenance annually. System equipment includes Aviat Eclipse microwave radios, Fujitsu Flashwave SONET multiplexors, a Cisco router, Cisco switches, patch panels, -48VDC rectifiers and battery plants, dehydrators, Commscope/Andrew antennas, and interconnections. Annual visual inspections of the waveguide and antennas from the ground. No tower climbing will be required.

The Microwave Communications SME will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing repairs to Anuenue microwave radio equipment and have functional knowledge of all of the following equipment:

- Fujitsu Flashwave 4100 Series SONET Multiplexors
- Aviat Provision Network Monitoring System
- DSX-1 T1 Jack fields
- Telect T1 Wiring Standards
- -48vdc Rectifier and Battery Systems
- Waveguide dehydrator systems
- R56 and FAA Remote Communication Site Bonding and Grounding
- 66 style punch-down block and associated wiring for local alarms
- Power Generation Systems
- Power Meters
- Digital Multimeters
- Transmission Impairment Test Sets
- OC, DS3, T1 and DS0 Test Sets
- Battery Plant Analyzers
Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, or related field of study and 4 years of related experience; OR military "A" school in a related rating or MOS (e.g. Electronics Technician) and 6 years of related experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Work on military microwave communications systems, preferably U.S. Coast Guard microwave systems.
