Collins Aerospace is seeking a Machine Operator I (Fabrication) to join our Carbon Brake Team in Santa Fe Springs California.  We create and ship out new carbon for aviation braking systems.  In this role, you will learn to learn our carbon manufacturing processes.  You will have the opportunity to be trained to set up the Press with die cutters to cut carbon fabric sheets, apply resin to carbon fabric, load Hydraulic Press with composite carbon and run.  You are willing to learn and thrive in a team environment.

Position works onsite at our Santa Fe Springs California Facility.

Shift Schedule: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Shift Days: Monday to Friday.

What you Will do:

  • Learn the steps of the carbon brake fabrication process of loading/unloading laid-up carbon composite preforms into a Hydraulic Press
  • Apply an phenolic resin to carbon fabric
  • Use handheld scanners to track all parts
  • Precisely measure using standard measuring instruments and scales
  • Understand and comply with all Environmental Health and Safety rules (EH&S)
  • Acquire proficiency in the use of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to enter data at corresponding steps of the fabrication process
  • Follow all policies and procedures of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), and drawings
  • Communicate potential mechanical or safety issues to your manager
  • Learn to operate a Forklift and/or Big Joe to place preforms on pallets
  • Use your basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications you must have:

  • HS Diploma. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required
  •  The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Forklift experience
  • Hydraulic Press experience

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is $41,600 to $63,621 The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
