Title: MTS IV, Software
We are looking for a highly experienced Cloud Engineer (MTS4 – Lead) to drive the continued evolution and optimization of our Airline Gateway (AGW) platform. This role requires a strong technical leader and hands-on programmer with deep expertise in Python backend development, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures on AWS.
You will play a key role in enhancing scalability, reliability, and observability of the platform, while guiding the team on engineering best practices and future-ready architecture, including the gradual adoption of Go where applicable.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of cloud-native, distributed systems on AWS, driving migration from SOAP-based APIs to RESTful and microservices architectures.
- Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing to critical backend development using Python and guiding the team on best practices.
- Architect and implement scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems with strong emphasis on performance and reliability.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerization, and automation.
- Design and develop robust APIs and backend services, ensuring clean architecture, modularity, and maintainability.
- Mentor and guide engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce high-quality engineering standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align on architecture, integrations, and delivery milestones.
- Define and implement observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) to ensure system transparency and operational excellence.
- Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are embedded into system design and implementation.
- Contribute to technical roadmap, system evolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate and gradually adopt Go for services where applicable, guiding the team through the transition.
Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications:
- Expert-level experience in Python backend development, including building scalable web services and APIs.
- Strong experience in designing and building distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Deep expertise in AWS cloud services and architecture (EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design, system scalability, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience with high-scale systems, concurrency, asynchronous processing, and fault tolerance.
- Strong knowledge of observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, tracing systems).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases in cloud environments.
- Solid understanding of cloud security, IAM, and compliance best practices.
- Basic knowledge of Go programming, with willingness and ability to scale up as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to lead complex technical discussions and decisions.
Preferred:
- Experience in airline or travel domain systems.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Developer).
- Experience with serverless and event-driven architectures.
- Exposure to platform evolution and optimization initiatives.
- Basic understanding of C++ for legacy integrations is a plus.
