The Position: MTS II , Software Traffic Shaping
Were looking for a motivated, driven, and collaborative Network Engineer with a strong foundation in Traffic Engineering and hands-on experience with virtualized network functions (NFV) to join our talented team. You’ll play a key role in the research, design, and development of our next-generation Traffic Management Platform, used to deliver high-performance network services in SD-WAN and cloud-native environments. Engineer would also collaborate with software and DevOps teams to integrate APIs, automate configurations, and orchestrate virtual appliances in production-grade environments.
Responsibilities
· Perform the installation and configuration of network infrastructure, ensuring it meets design specifications.
· Optimizes configurations for Traffic Policies, fine-tuning parameters based on changing requirements
· Automates repetitive tasks via custom scripting using Python and Rest API’s, streamline network provisioning, and enhance efficiency.
· Troubleshoots network issues, performs routine maintenance, and monitors network performance to identify areas for improvement.
· Analyzes network traffic patterns and system performance to identify bottlenecks, potential issues and
· take proactive corrective actions if / when needed.
· Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of network designs and configurations for future reference and troubleshooting. Works with other departments and stakeholders to ensure network needs are met and projects are delivered on time.
KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLSET REQUIREMENTS
· Extensive Knowledge of Network Technologies & Architecture: Candidate must be Proficient in network elements and their interworking across diverse environments.
· In-depth Understanding of TCP/IP & Network Protocols: Candidate must possess solid grasp of routing protocols, Layer 2/3 switching, VLANs, spanning-tree protocols, and network segmentation.
· Proficient in Linux/Unix Operating Systems: Candidate must be experienced in system administration, shell environments, and command-line tools.
· Expertise in Virtualization Technologies: Possess Strong hands-on experience with leading virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
· Programming & Scripting Skills: Practical experience with Bash, AWK, Python, and Ansible for automation, scripting, and configuration management.
· API Integration: Familiarity with RESTful and SOAP APIs for service integration and automation.
· Database & SQL Knowledge: Skilled in working with PostgreSQL and Vertica, including writing and optimizing SQL queries.
· CICD Knowledge to Continuous Integration and Delivery
· Good to have (Preferable) Experience with Telemetry and Visualization Tools like Datadog Dynatrace etc.
· On-Call Availability: Willing and prepared to handle after-hours support and on-call responsibilities when required. Also willing to work flexible hours to ensure some overlap with US-based teams on regular basis.
· Network Maintenance & Operations: Experienced with network maintenance activities such as scheduled downtime, migrations, and upgrades.
· Project Management & Organization: Capable of independently managing technical projects including new customer implementations, upgrades, and installations and be project lead within the team.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science/software engineering/ Information Technology with 3-6 years of proven experience, master’s degree is preferred.
· Agile / Scrum certification or proven experience practicing Agile software development principles.
· Network Operations and Development experience with solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle.
