The Software Engineering Discipline is seeking an Associate Director, Software Engineering – Lower Tier Air & Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) Chief Product Owner (CPO) within the Land and Air Defense Systems (LADS) area.
This position is a full-time onsite role in Tewksbury, MA.
What You Will Do
The Chief Product Owner for LTAMDS and Ghosteye, leads the software (SW) development and delivery of leading-edge radar capabilities to support delivery of the medium range Radars for the Army. The Chief Product Owner is the technical interface for all the software development (both defects and new capabilities) and has the authority to make decisions regarding the product backlog. The role requires scope, priority and schedule negotiation across multiple parties, such as the Office of Chief Engineer (OCE), the Radar Product Line (RPL), Exportability Product Line and the external customer. The CPO must be able to clearly communicate status, complex issues and resolutions to program and functional leadership on matters that significantly impact the program. Occasional travel is required to support program needs as necessary.
LTAMDS and Ghosteye are multi-year programs consisting of both US and Foreign partner customers. Functionally this role will report to the SW Sensors: Ground Radars & Platforms Center’s Ground & Maritime Defense Radar Software – 2 Department within the Software Engineering discipline.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and a minimum of 12 years of engineering experience.
Experience with implementation of modern software tools and practices such as GitLab, Jira, Artifactory, Confluence, Podman and Docker
Software engineering experience to include one or more of the following: design, development, production, system integration, verification, qualification, fielding and deployment
Engineering leadership experience such as Product Owner or Software Architect
Experience working and leading in Agile Scrum environments

Qualifications We Prefer
Subject matter expert in ground-based radars
Experience managing multiple priorities in a complex environment
Experience working with external customers
Experience with both domestic and international defense programs including both Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contracts
Self-starter – proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action
Software Product Line experience
Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings
Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment with positive interaction
Demonstrated history of mentoring and apprenticing junior engineers
Very strong written and oral communication skills to communicate clearly with all levels of team and leadership
Proactive, comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-tiered environment
Proven track record of credibility with customers
Experience working on a development program using agile/scrum and in DevSecOps/Automation

This position requires a Secret security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
