Job Summary
The intern will be introduced to the Environmental Department, working in areas of environmental compliance and water systems at Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport. The intern will receive hands-on experience by participating in field inspections, environmental compliance reporting, and exposure to various permits and regulations in areas such as stormwater, waste, air, and drinking water.
Here is how the Environmental Intern will help:
- Participate in environmental compliance inspections, such as aboveground storage tanks, dams and basins, water system infrastructure, and erosion and sedimentation control construction projects.
- Update and maintain various Environmental Systems field features in GIS.
- Assist and participate in semi-annual and annual National Preparedness for Response Exercise Program spill prevention drills.
- Coordinate and support various field efforts throughout airport property in areas including drinking water, deicing operations, waste management, and stream sampling.
- Data management and analysis.
- Quality review of environmental plans, documents, and reports for data tracking.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.

Qualifications
Requirements to apply for role of Environmental Intern are:
- Must currently be enrolled in school as an undergraduate from an accredited four-year college or university in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Must maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater.
- Possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid driver’s license. Note: License must be maintained throughout employment.
