KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Understanding of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic boat systems in order to provide augmenting experience to Chief Engineer
Familiar with Safety of life at-sea equipment (SOLAS)
Familiar with Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Familiar with Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) and various firefighting equipment on board each vessel (i.e. fire extinguishers and hoses on larger craft)
Familiar with FM-200 and Heptafluoropropane Extinguishing Agent (HFC-227)
Familiar with FM-200 fire suppression systems on PSC-05, PSC-08, PSC-12, MK-V
Familiar with various communications (HF, VHF, and Satellite), Generator and AC/Heating systems.
Ability to run tracks with +/- 10 meters over 1,000 meters while towing instruments behind the craft, hold station in open water within 10 meters, conduct restricted maneuvering, and precision navigation within Global Positioning System (GPS) accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of five years’ experience in engine troubleshooting and repair, hydraulics and lubrication, power generation and distribution, motors and generators, radar and navigation systems, communications systems, experienced in corrosion control on aluminum hulls, repair/maintenance of instrumentation/test systems and other related craft technologies.
Hold a current United States Coast Guard (USCG) 100 Ton Master license.
100-Ton Captains Licenses and CPR certifications shall be current and available for Government inspection.
Qualified and maintain currency in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operation and First Aid.
Experienced in crane operations and at-sea rigging.
Experience towing arrays such as side scan sonar(s) and other test equipment and assets.
