FTI is seeking a machinist/grinder to join our team in our machine and grind shop. The Grinder will have experience with tight tolerance precision capabilities, blueprint reading, various types of machining equipment. They must hold a high level of safety, health, environmental, quality, and productivity and have a good understanding of standards, concepts, practices, and procedures for machining operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Extensive reading of blueprints, hold dimension, and tolerances on prints.
- Understanding of machining and grinding various hardened tool steels and epoxy resins.
- Setup and operate conventional and CNC precision grinding equipment.
- Setup and operate conventional machining equipment to manufacture parts to print specification.
- Mount and Indicate parts less than .001” TIR.
- Reading and operation of surface roughness tester.
- Cylindrical and Internal Grinding of hardened tool steels and epoxy resins within tolerance of .0002”/.0005”.
- Work efficiently and effectively on a consistent basis.
- Follow and perform to standards, concepts, best practices and procedures.
- Use inspection tools to verify dimensions and tolerances such as CMM, micrometers, indicators, etc.
- Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance schedule.
- Maintain work environment with the use of 6S and Lean principles.
- Maintain professional level of organization with high attention to detail and quality.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in precision grinding or machining, and manufacturing environment.
- Degree in Applied Science, Vocational Trade in Machining, or Certifications achieved through technical institute preferred, but not required.
- Extensive use and operation of micrometers, indicators, and inspection tools.
- High attention to detail
- Proficient in reading blueprints.
- Mathematical calculations of part drawings.
- Excellent communication skills.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $23.00 to $29.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.
