Role IntroductionReports to: Assistant Cargo Load Control Manager
Indirectly reports to: Regional Cargo Service Manager – SAMEA
Plan and deliver safe, accurate aircraft load control that keeps Cathay Cargo operations running reliably. As a Cargo Load Control Officer, the work centres on precise weight and balance calculations, compliant load planning, and timely documentation for freighter and transit flights, ensuring every aircraft departs within defined safety and operational limits.
Daily responsibilities involve coordinating closely with flight crew, ground handling agents, ramp teams, and supervisors to translate operational plans into executable loading instructions. The role requires careful attention to special cargo requirements, gravity parameters, and unloading accessibility, while maintaining alignment with corporate Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory standards.
Through disciplined execution and collaboration, this position supports smooth aircraft turnaround and contributes directly to Cathay Cargo’s safety record, service quality, and commitment to moving cargo that matters to the world.
Key Responsibilities- Distribute cargo aircraft loads in line with safety regulations, weight and balance limits, special cargo requirements, and operational restrictions.
- Calculate aircraft weight and balance and prepare, reconcile, and issue accurate load-sheets and loading instructions.
- Provide complete and compliant in-flight documentation to flight crew within required timelines.
- Execute load control plans in accordance with corporate Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocols.
- Coordinate with ground handling agents, flight crew, Aircraft Loading Supervisors, and Ramp Coordinators to support compliant ramp activities and on-time departure.
- Monitor cargo handling activities to ensure adherence to Cathay Cargo service and safety standards.
- File electronic reports and maintain required operational and compliance documentation.
- Support station administrative processes, including SAP-based supplier invoice processing and documentation workflows.
- Assist with audits, quality checks, and compliance activities as directed by the Assistant Cargo Load Control Manager or Head Office.
- Participate in emergency, accident, crisis response, and business continuity activities when required.
Requirements- University degree or tertiary equivalent in a related discipline.
- Additional certification or diploma in logistics, supply chain management, or aviation operations would be an advantage.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in cargo or ramp operations with a focus on load control activities.
- Sound knowledge of aircraft weight and balance principles, cargo build-up procedures, and Dangerous Goods acceptance protocols is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, analytical, and planning skills with attention to detail and a customer-focused mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Cathay Freighter Load Control (LCO) licence.
