There is autonomy within the role to enter into/execute Commercial arrangements. High levels of Commercial judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • All contract performance related activities, tied to customer(s) or program(s).
    Perform as interface between the customer and the internal business team, managing the transfer of information and requests.
    Assure timely resolution of issues, keep the customer advised of the progress of the program, and negotiate changes, variations, solutions to issues.
    Responsible for adherence to contract service, operations, and performance specifications, as well as financial & technical metrics specific to contract.
    May also support proposal and negotiations.
  • Responsible for P&L, gross margin, revenues and collections.
  • Developing commercial expertise across one or more countries, product lines, markets, sales processes, or customer groups. Influences policy and ensures delivery across large and/or diverse sales territories.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.
  • Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex projects, product lines, markets, sales processes, or customers. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • Typically a 2nd line Commercial Manager with senior professional direct reports. Has ability to attract and retain talent. Often manages medium to large teams. May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 14 years of experience in Program Management and 9 years of experience leading internal teams).
  • Minimum of 10 years of Program Management experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading internal teams
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

 Desired Characteristics 

  • Previous experience managing $1B+ P&L
  • Experience in commercial contract negotiations
  • Demonstrated Lean leadership with application and use of Lean tools and processes. 
  • Experience with employing Hoshin Kanri, KPI management, PSRs, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
