I. JOB PURPOSE
To supervise functions assigned in the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft components, parts, and accessories.
II. WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Requires occasional bending, stooping or squatting. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated: Manlifts, Flightline vehicles.
Work Location: Aircraft maintenance hangars, flightline.
Potential Hazards: Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets, working on unprotected heights, or around moving machinery.
Protective Equipment Required: Ear protection.
III. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises the modification and repair and aircraft structures ensuring that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations and Marana Aerospace policies and procedures and that the technical data and procedure manuals are reviewed, kept current and available. - Studies and reviews production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Adjusts work procedures as needed and recommends measures for improved efficiency.
- Reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Supervises the review of non preplanned documents to identify methods of repair and/or replacement identifying necessary parts, materials and tooling requirements. Provides timely estimate for all maintenance on non preplanned documents within scope of responsibility.
- Ensures that qualified personnel are selected and that the orientation and on-the-job training programs are conducted and effective
- Monitors performance of subordinates. Provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling. Conducts performance appraisals.
- Coordinates responsibilities within work areas. Analyzes and resolves work problems and remains available for consultation of matters relating to work being performed.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Ensures that customer approval is obtained on original and revised estimates to accomplish maintenance on aircraft and components.
- Ensures that all required paperwork is satisfactorily completed, signed and in compliance with existing regulations and procedures.
- Coordinates with other departments/managers/superviors as necessary.
- Ensures that employees receive proper orientation and training and performs on-the-job training as necessary. Ensures that training is documented in employee training records.
- Interprets company policies to workers, enforces safety regulations and the proper use of equipment and ensures that quality standards are met.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers including assigning work duties for maximum utilization of manpower and analyzing and resolving work problems.
- Maintains communications within area of responsibility, informing employees as to plans and progress and promoting teamwork and cooperation.
- Conducts performance evaluations on employees and makes recommendations to management regarding personnel actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
