Job PurposeResponsible for supporting the process to acquire aircraft to meet the airline’s strategic fleet plan. The role holder will carry out analysis of new aircraft and support the negotiation of commercial terms on the acquisition
Key Accountabilities Contract Negotiations
- Support contract negotiations with Airbus on various commercial aspects and identify key drivers for cost savings.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Engineering, Finance and Legal to ensure favourable terms and conditions in the aircraft agreements
- Ensure correctness in computation of pricing, escalations, and liquidated damages under various contracts
- Assist in developing financing strategies for acquisition of aircraft
- Nurturing and developing relationships with counterparts in Airbus
- Lead commercial negotiations for Airbus software and services contracts
Contract Management
- End-to-end delivery coordination to ensure seamless aircraft deliveries in coordination with various stakeholders including Airbus including engineering and financing teams
- Ensuring Air India obligations are completed as per contractual timelines and terms including advance payments and in line with internal policies and regulatory conditions
- Troubleshooting for any issues in contract and maintaining constant dialogue with various stakeholders
- Collaborating with cross-company stakeholders and assist in administration of purchase agreements such as warranty and customer support entitlements
Fleet Planning and Monitoring
- Modelling various long term growth scenarios as required by management with multiple scenarios and sensitivity scenarios
- Tracking competitor fleets to understand future competitive scenarios to plan own long-term orders. Further understand competitor aircraft orders to determine their strategy
- Administer performance guarantees and performance retention guarantees with Airbus
- Analyzing LOPAs and analyze performance data on aircraft
- Evaluate new aircraft acquisition opportunities
Financial Modelling for critical business decisions
- Conducting detailed financial analysis to analyze aircraft cost drivers including engine maintenance, fuel burn etc.
- Preparing high-quality material for senior management including board approvals
Project Management
- Support the entire aircraft acquisition process, from order placement to aircraft delivery and entry into service. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless transition
Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR
Skills/Qualities Required
- Strong financial acumen and modelling, and analytical skills.
- Well conversant with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

- Effective communication skills, both written and oral (including report writing)
