Job Description

As Senior Director, Safety and Quality, you will oversee all activities related to the Safety Management System (SMS) and you will supervise the Flight Safety team as well as the Corporate Quality Assurance team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the reporting system to ensure the timely collection of information related to hazards, incidents and accidents that may adversely affect safety;
  • Participate in the identification of hazards and their risk analysis;
  • Supervise the Director, Flight Safety, and participate in certain investigations, analyses, identification of probable root causes and recommendations;
  • Monitor & evaluate the results of corrective actions with respect to hazards, incidents & accidents;
  • Monitor the concerns of the civil aviation authorities with respect to safety;
  • Implement and manage the Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS);
  • Delegate the Flight Data Monitoring Program to the Director, Flight Safety, and ensure that the system operates smoothly and efficiently within the framework of the SMS;
  • Supervise the Manager, Audit Programs, and ensure that audits are carried out efficiently, including those related to SMS, flight operations, technical operations and ground operations;
  • Enhance the Quality Assurance Program toward a risk-based approach, while ensuring the coverage of all functions required by our certificates;
  • Participate in monthly QSMC meetings and present to senior management, analyses, internal reviews and an evaluation of the QA Program to highlight safety and quality issues;
  • Ensure that the SMS complies with regulatory requirements and IOSA standards;
  • Maintain a close liaison with Transport Canada, The Transportation Safety Board of Canada, NACC and other relevant external regulatory entities;
  • Prepare and manage the budget and determine staffing requirements;
  • Manage a team of approximately 15 employees, including managers;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Business Continuity.

Additional Information

*A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • University or college degree in a related field;
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years’ experience in an airline-related field, including hands-on expertise related to SMS and quality assurance;
  • Management experience and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and French * ;
  • Computer skills: MS Office 365 Suite.
