The Regional Security Manager – Security Operations Asia Pacific region (APAC) is responsible for International Security Operations, continuously monitoring potential security vulnerability and implementing mitigation strategies at the assigned hub airport and surrounding APAC territories. Key programmatic responsibilities include investigating criminal and company policy “Rules of the Road” violations in addition to assessing, responding and mitigating “Real Time" security related incidents and risks to Delta Air Lines operation, people, and assets. Supporting special initiatives, conducting public and secure area risk assessments and mitigation strategy development and implementation, along with security business plan development. This position will be based in ICN.
Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):
  • Develop and drive relationships with Federal Airport Authorities, Federal and Local Law Enforcement Authorities, US Embassy Regional Security Officers and TSA Representatives in order to promote Delta policy objectives and lead proactive security risk mitigation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Continually assess changes that may affect the international station’s risk classification and make adjustments to mitigate risk as necessary.
  • Provide dotted line oversight of local Delta security vendors, ensuring proper application of TSA and local government security standards through the development of Delta-specific Station Security Business Plans incorporating corporate and regulatory requirements as well as identified vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Perform intelligence gathering, evaluation and dissemination on a daily basis.
  • Conduct and/or assist with internal investigations including assisitng with customer/employee misconduct and other security related events as necessary.
  • Assist Delta’s local and regional leadership and their teams within area of responsibility (AOR) with loss prevention, compliance, corrective action, fine mitigation, and other security programs.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with local airport, airline; and federal and local law enforcement officials within the area of responsibility AOR.
  • Conduct routine visits to U.S. Embassies within AOR meeting with Regional Security Officers to discuss security related issues in the APAC region.
  • Attend Over Seas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) meetings.
  • Coordinate emergency response within area of responsibility.
  • Develop, maintain and report strategies and key metrics for area of responsibility.
  • Practice safety and security conscious behaviors in all aspects of job responsibilities.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Must have current work authorization to live and work in Korea at the time of application. Delta does not sponsor.
  • Five to ten years in security, law enforcement or similar background is required.
  • Must have good analytical skills and deductive reasoning skills. In addition, relevant work experience should include one or more of the following: loss prevention, compliance, corrective action, fine mitigation, physical surveillance and/or other security programs.
  • Fluent Japanese and/or Korean language skills required with Mandarin and/or Cantonese preferred. (Multi-lingual is desired)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of applications and related security tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks and provide reliable, high-quality results under stressful situations in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Must be comfortable working with highly sensitive and confidential information and materials.
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing, communicating at all levels - both internal and external.
  • Must be willing/able to travel to all Delta cities served worldwide; expected travel at least 50.
  • Candidates must be available to work off-hours and on weekends as the airline is a 24/7/365 operation.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • College degree or five to ten years in aviation operations is preferred.
  • MA or MS degree or minimum of 10 years in aviation security, risk management, law enforcement or managing a security operations center.
  • Professional Certification or study within the areas of security management, investigations, risk management, homeland security or ER response management from an accredited school or organization.
  • Knowledge of Delta security practices, TSA, CBP, and other government agencies security regulations.
  • Seasoned analytical and deductive reasoning skills with the ability to act tactically and strategically, to include developing and modifying security programs to support business objectives, risks, and continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience leading a high energy, diverse team through inclusion and collaboration.
  • Experience managing risk assessments of critical infrastructure, call center, or hotel facilities and implementing strategies to reduce employee and enterprise risk.
