Position Summary
Provide leadership and management for the Erie quality function and sustain the quality philosophy and zero defects culture for the division at the plant level. Maintain and optimize an effective quality management system. Support the implementation of the divisional quality plan at the plant level to achieve the division’s overall quality objectives. Enhance and improve the divisional products and services through the implementation of AS9100, ISO 9001, problem-solving tools, prevention methods, quality-at-incoming inspection, and testing. Reports to the Erie Plant Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Quality Inspection, Dynamic Test and Calibration.
- Monitor queue length and estimate hours required for completion of jobs.
- Supports plant quality management to achieve Plant-level goals and metrics in support of Divisional goals through strategies and objectives.
- Drives Zero Defects and process capability within the Erie Plant.
- Drive Parker Lean System through Team Improvement Boards.
- Proactively leads quality process improvement initiatives using technical/statistical problem solving and prevention-oriented quality principles and practices.
- Drives continuous improvement efforts in gaging applications and measurement of close tolerance products.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product and inspection plans.
- Lead multi-disciplined continuous improvement projects and teams focused on improvements to COPQ and FPY.
- Drive standardization of inspection methods within the department and across the plant.
- Ensures compliance to customer quality requirements and Parker Lord quality policies.
- Provides direct leadership support to the Quality Team including both exempt and non-exempt team members.
- Represents the company during customer audits and quality system audits, as well as through direct interactions with customers and suppliers regarding product quality matters.
- Manages the purchased component unshippables (MRB).
- Ensures on time completion of gage calibration.
- Accomplishes quality assurance objectives by monitoring, reviewing, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Supports Management Review by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated process management/lean manufacturing/continuous improvement experience as well as knowledge and experience with quality system standards.
- Competent with AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge with Zero Defects core tools (PPAP, PFMEA, QCP, MSA, process capability, error proofing)
- Demonstrated ability to create, train, monitor, analyze and implement improvements.
- Demonstrated competence in various problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to lead teams and develop positive relationships with coworkers, customers, suppliers, and auditors.
- Approachable and able to effectively communicate advanced quality concepts, plans, and technical data, internally and externally at all levels.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and related process controls is required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Minimum 3 -5 years of Quality related experience with increasing responsibility in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Auditing experience with AS9100, NADCAP or related.
- GD&T and drawing interpretations as well as gaging applications.
- Zero Defects Methodology.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences or Mathematics
Preferred
- Solid working knowledge of mechanical processes utilized in the manufacture of metal/rubber products.
- Demonstrated Quality leadership in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with SAP (quality transactions).
- Lean Manufacturing.
- FAA experience.
- Black Belt.
