AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Kinston, North Carolina that is one of the worlds largest manufacturers of aerostructures for commercial airplanes, defense platforms, and business/regional jets. With expertise in aluminum and advanced composite manufacturing solutions, the company’s core products include fuselages, integrated wings and wing components, pylons, and nacelles.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the quality control and assurance processes in the production of aircraft components and assemblies. This role ensures that all manufactured products meet stringent quality standards, regulatory requirements (such as FAA regulations), and customer specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise and manage a team of Quality Assurance inspectors, ensuring proper training, performance management, and adherence to quality standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Schedule and assign daily inspection tasks and activities to meet production timelines and quality goals.
- Ensure QA staff maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Oversee the inspection of materials, components, and assemblies during different stages of the manufacturing process.
- Ensure inspections are thorough, following defined procedures and using the correct measurement tools and testing methods.
- Monitor the accuracy and completeness of inspections to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, AS9100, and customer specifications.
- Approve or reject materials and parts based on inspection results and ensure proper handling of non-conforming materials.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality problems and prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other teams to address quality issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive records of quality inspections, non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and audit findings.
- Prepare and submit detailed quality reports to management, summarizing inspection results, trends, and quality metrics.
- Ensure that all QA documentation complies with regulatory requirements and internal company standards.
- Ensure proper documentation of changes to processes, procedures, and product specifications.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality control in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role in aerospace or aircraft manufacturing.
- Deep knowledge of aerospace industry regulations (e.g., FAA, AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP) and how they apply to manufacturing processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or a related field. Certifications in quality management (e.g., ASQ, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) are preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, conduct meetings, and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
