As a Powerplant Programme Manager, your focus will be to manage and optimize all powerplant off-wing activities, in line with a cost-efficient maintenance baseline, operational & airline restrictions, and contractual/lease requirements and aviation regulations.
You will assess financial implications of all decision-making to drive financial benefit, and ensure financial ownership is embedded within all powerplant activity.
In this role you will be a key business partner to CAMO Powerplant, Strategic Planning, Supplier Management & Procurement, Asset management, Finance and Fleet Management, and you report into the Technical Aircraft Asset Manager.
ABOUT THE JOB
You will further enhance the strategic side of the powerplant off-wing team and will oversee off-wing activities are cost effective (considering engine removal planning, spare requirement needs, and life-cycle cost optimisation) whilst ensuring regulatory compliance.
Your team will be based across multiple locations, supporting you through technical customer liaison, workscope & removal planning.
Your core areas of responsibility will include:
• Manage and support your team ensuring development and engagement with clear objectives.
• Establish and manage a strong relationship with MRO, and relevant Engine/APU OEMs.
(Maintenance Repair Organisation ; Original Equipment Manufacturer)
• Manage the MRO contract and ensure MRO providers perform to their contractual obligations with relevant KPI; steer remedial actions if required.
• Act as a powerplant expert in technical/contractual negotiations.
• Manage the scope of work (repair or qualified event), financials and invoice review for every shop visit.
• Ensure shop visits are managed in accordance with the lease, ensuring full engagement, sign off, and review with the lessors where appropriate.
• Continuously seek and identify opportunities to generate financial benefit in powerplant activities (surplus spanet; Used vs new; optimum use of spares, sale removed parts … ).
• Ensure day to day operational maintenance, as defined by the powerplant technical manager, complements and enhances the long-term strategy.
• Provide a key contact to other functions such as insurance and warranty, to ensure all claims are recognised.
• Manage the corresponding Procedure Manuals between TUI and maintenance repair organisations (MROs).
• Undertake projects and any other reasonable tasks as and when required by the business.
• Contribute to the development of TUIs asset lifecycle strategy and take responsibility for its practical implementation, ensuring lifecycle cost optimization is an embedded behaviour within all powerplant activities.
ABOUT YOU
• Considerable experience in a technical aviation environment, holding a Bachelor/Master degree in relevant discipline, with preferably some management experience.
• Extensive engine technical expertise and experience in the commercial aspects of engine contract management.
• Skilled commercial negotiator, and strong communicator with the proven ability to influence, partner with senior leaders, develop a strong network of contacts throughout the industry and gain support and commitment from line managers across the business.
• Ability to operate within a virtual airline in a pan-European arena, with multiple customers and stakeholders across a range of source spanets with the flexibility to travel occasionally.
• Ability to combine technical, contractual and financial aspects in an aviation environment with a proven financial acumen.
• Proven ability to employ analytical tools to improve performance.
• Ability to think commercially and strategically whilst ensuring full regulatory compliance is achieved and maintained.
• A self-motivated leader who takes the initiative and works collaboratively with a track record of motivating and developing diverse teams.
• A logical thinker with the ability to generate ideas and alternatives.
• Role requires excellent communication and presentation skills.
