Operations Excellence Project Manager is an energized and independently driven change management leader on the Helicopters team. The role is responsible for the facilitation and execution of strategic improvement projects aligned with business objectives and other formal improvement processes. This role will challenge the status-quo and partner with other leaders when outside expertise is required. Success in this role will be driving systematic processes that deliver strong operational and business performance. This position is a key member of the Heli Quality team that helps develop and implement the business plans for sustainable growth across the Helicopter Program.
What you’ll do:
- Executes the strategic roadmap for operational excellence activities to be aligned with overall business strategy and growth.
- Leads and coordinates key continuous improvement and kaizen activities across the business unit.
- Leads existing business unit Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean facilitators for assigned continuous improvement or kaizen activities.
- Executes training for Operations Excellence, Continuous Improvement and Lean Facilitator training in the business unit.
- Provides insight to business unit leadership areas that need attention based on agreed upon metrics.
- Operates capacity planning models and works with site leadership to drive business decisions on equipment, staffing, and tooling.
- Leads and supports New Product Introduction (NPI) activities as assigned to achieve:
Compliance with corporate and site NPI procedures
New programs stand up to meet objectives
Support site teams as Subject Matter Expert for NPI processes when required
- Reviews operational metrics and working with the business unit, develops CI plans to improve operations. Provides regular reporting as required.
- Supports and implements transition / consolidation plans to allow for smooth transition of processes to be relocated and/or transitioned to a new location.
- Acts as a mentor to Operations Leaders regarding standard work and training required to manage their product lines / cells.
- Produces periodic reports to communicate the status of projects / areas within the business to appropriate levels of the organization.
- Supports the creation of technical and financial data for preparation of cost benefit analysis (Net Present Value (NPV), Return on Investment (ROI), etc.)
- Facilitates, coaches, and / or mentor team members in the Operations Excellence activities (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause and Effects Problem Solving, 5S, Process Mapping, and Kaizen events).
- Carries out other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, related field or Operations experience in aircraft engine / component MRO.
- Formal OpEx (Operational Excellence) training (Lean, Six Sigma, etc) a requirement, Black Belt certification desired but not required.
- Ability to analyze business and operations processes and to synthesize that input into robust solutions.
- Thought leader and a mentor to the business and operational teams
- Experience with training and providing oversight to a diverse team in continuous improvement, lean and/or six sigma disciplines
- Experience with redesign business processes to optimize profit, reduce complexity and minimize the effects of variation.
- Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge and proficiency with MS Project, SmartSheet, PowerBI, Box and other software tools is an asset.
- Ability and proficiency to "mine" existing data for further analysis
- Experience with SQL/SA DataCorp type queries and ERP systems required. Detailed knowledge of SA Menu programs (e.g., Corrective Action Tracking, eShop Order, Material Inquiry) is an asset.
- Strong project management, analytical, leadership, relationship, decision making, and oral / written communication skills. Ability to perform financial analysis is an asset.
- Must be authorized to work in country of residence. Must be able to obtain the required governmental approvals to travel internationally.
