Position Summary:
The Operations Director will be responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating manufacturing operations for the PCC Schlosser facility. The manager must ensure the achievement of production requirements, quality and reliability standards, and on-time delivery at the lowest cost. These objectives will be achieved by collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, and Information Systems, and by motivating the production workforce. The role is responsible for delivering results through Lean Manufacturing techniques, 6S, TOC, Six Sigma, and problem-solving.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for safely manufacturing a quality product while meeting customer specifications and delivery commitments.
- Ensure adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.
- Formulate long- and short-range strategies for continuous improvements across all plant manufacturing functions.
- Control quality, delivery, cost of production, work-in-process levels, and monitor production through planning.
- Recommend and purchase new equipment for expansion, efficiency, cost reductions, and quality improvement.
- Provide input on the design and installation of equipment for new manufacturing processes.
- Ensure EHS rules are always followed by every employee in the departments.
- Manage operational metrics, including TOC, variable cost, and productivity targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Lead plant teams, including hiring, performance evaluations, and talent development.
- Maintain and enhance a team environment and motivate the production workforce.
- Establish and execute annual operating budgets for departments and meet the budget.
- Oversee manufacturing plans and maintain production schedules.
- Control costs of manufacturing, work-in-process inventory, and throughput.
- Oversee allocation of material, manpower, and equipment resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Industrial, Mechanical, or a related engineering field, or 10+ years experience in manufacturing setting.
- MS or MBA degree is desirable.
- Prefer 7+ years of experience in manufacturing.
- Investment Casting Experience strongly preferred.
- Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing experience required; Six Sigma Certification strongly preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Mobility: Ability to move around the production floor frequently, including standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders as needed throughout the shift.
- Lifting: Frequently required to lift and move objects up to 35 pounds, such as equipment, tools, or materials.
- Dexterity: Requires manual dexterity for handling tools, equipment, or machines and performing routine inspections and adjustments.
- Visual and Hearing Requirements: Must have good vision (with or without correction) for reading documents, monitors, and inspecting products, as well as good hearing for communication in a noisy environment.
- Endurance: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and work in various conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and temperature variations. Weekends and longer working hours may be required.
- Safety Awareness: Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and other necessary gear depending on the area of the production floor.
