Arconic is currently in search of an Operations Area Manager to join our Kawneer business in Visalia, CA. Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Operations Area Manager will manage a team of 20+ employees and is accountable for the Paint, pretreat wastewater, thermal P&D. Base Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, lead, and be accountable for the crew’s environmental, health, and safety performance and practices. Lead EHS initiatives throughout the organization. Manage all departmental goals in alignment with the plant business (e.g. IFE, TRR, DART, Human Performance). Implement, maintain, and improve leading indicators processes that will prevent EHS incidents.
- Perform EHS and financial business plan unit cost self-assessments as required for designated areas.
- Manage areas meeting all local, state, federal, and company policy for the Oxidizer, paint line, wastewater, pretreat and P&D. This includes other manufacturing areas as assigned.
- Accurate Recordkeeping for the following pertaining to Paint, pretreat, wastewater, Azon P&D:
- Paint line process Permits: Oxidizer, Wastewater treatment, Pretreat process titrations, COV CIV Critical Input and Output Variable control chart records.
- Production OEE and Operation productivity index year on year 105
- Quality PPP scrap and Rework targets
- Training per skills matrix
- Payroll timecard- review, collect/create time keeping exception forms, correct times and approval of timecards
- Employee performance feedback
- Check and maintain VOC log from the paint line.
- Gemba walk HOUSEKEEPING 5S target achieved.
- Coach Department Leads Team on ABS principles & Perform Gemba Walk
- Attend daily start up meetings L1 & L3. Punctuality and board’s updated prior to meeting required. Lead shift meetings L1, engaging employees in all aspects of the business.
- Plan, manage, and execute departmental operating plans and tactical operations, including scheduling, crew assignments, and overtime.
- Maintain good employee relations with internal and external customers.
- Track performance measurements and Implement policies and procedures.
- Maintain proper head count and OPI targets.
- Fabrication Operations Manager back up
- Verify Temps have been trained in their position.
- ABS Coaching - Verify 5 why sheets and update where needed.
- CHECK DO ACT -A3 progress Check actions and updates are on track & posted.
- Responsible for the integrity of the system transactions on Oracle/JDE
- Communicate and follow up with Plant Manager and peers on daily/weekly/monthly requirements.
- Communicate with other production and support departments (Quality, Engineering, PC, ABS, etc.).
- Review production schedules, staffing requirements and make decisions in order to guarantee the safety and productivity of the area.
- Provide process direction and prioritization to craft employees on off-shifts to resolve equipment issues, as needed.
- Quality Management KPI Monthly / Daily Target plans for supervisors and department or area of responsibility (Feedback cycle time and PPM Targets)
- Unit Cost Management year on year improvement by department
- Continuous Improvement/ABS Deployment/ Lean principles
- Capex project Management
- Arconic Self-Assessment Tests where applicable
- TPM equipment schedule
- Inventory management and cycle count accuracy.
- Develop, implement, and maintain current standard work for subordinates.
- Complete Leaders Standard Work and review with immediate supervisor.
- Verify teams are doing appropriate quality checks and check sheets are up to date.
- Reward and recognition - reward Team for good safety and production performance.
- Responsible for problem analysis and resolution showing improved process optimization.
- Follow-up on investigations of scrap with the quality department.
- Succession planning - coach leads and employees in a manner that moves the organization toward accomplishing the target condition.
- Resource Management (People, Equipment, Maintenance, Time)
- Optimize MDR waste targets.
- Order Supplies needed for Oxidizer, paint line, wastewater, pretreat and P&D
- Maintain PM’s on all processes Oxidizer, paint line, waste water, pretreat and P&D 90 hit rate
- Maintain all quality, process management and production standards. OTIF, WCR, Operational Productivity, Labor efficiency, OEE, Inventory, Budget, Quality, etc.
- Manage implementation of policies and procedures and recommend improvements in working conditions.
- Employee Engagement – help drive department activities and moral.
- Lead and engage hourly teams in process improvement and rapid problem-solving activities; Resolve conflict; coach and counsel employees.
- Submit requests through Magnet for temporary employee recruiting needs.
- Other duties as needed to meet business objectives.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Develop accountability, trust, and respect among team members.
- Maintain positive relations and communication with all internal and external departments.
- Communicate as needed with external customers to ensure a relationship that promotes customer satisfaction.
- Utilize ABS network resources to support personnel development and succession progress: i.e.: training through work instructions and skills matrix tracking.
- Related Expert knowledge of the department process
- Lead/Facilitate Root Cause Analysis.
- Clearly communicate written and oral instructions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or 10 years of manufacturing experience as a department lead and
- 5 Years supervisory experience in a production environment
