Responsibilities
The Manager, Safety Data FOQA role manages the daily administration, security and operation of the Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA). The Manager ensures aircraft data downloading, analysis, software/computer management, program meetings, and other projects as assigned by the Director of Operational Safety are completed as required. Directly interfaces with the gatekeepers and ALPA pilot union safety committee members on all areas related to FOQA. This role promotes Spirit Airline’s Safety Culture through interactions/ presentations with key stakeholders internally and externally through the FOQA program and industry safety conferences.
- Manages the daily administration of the FOQA program.
- Monitors the data collection process of aircraft fleet in conjunction with Maintenance Planning.
- Performs data analysis, root cause analysis, and assists in identifying adverse events or trends in flight operations.
- Coordinate the development, verification and validation of aircraft specific event definitions as appropriate.
- Ensures the proper functioning of FOQA software, hardware, and associated peripherals.
- Work with ALPA Gatekeepers and company stakeholders in identifying adverse trends in the FOQA data.
- Chairs the FOQA management team (FMT) monthly meeting and communicating significant trends to stakeholders.
- Screens data for accuracy, integrity and validity.
- Programming FOQA software to identify adverse trends.
- Work with ALPA and company stakeholders in identifying adverse trends.
- Contributes FOQA information to various internal communication channels.
- Present FOQA information to various internal and external groups such as senior management, pilots, industry, and governmental agencies.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Aviation, science or engineering field or equivalent experience required.
- FAA Certification: Commercial/ATP preferred.
- 2 years minimum of Part 121 or Part 135 experience required.
- Work experience in 14CFR Part 121 air carrier operations; quality control, maintenance, operations, safety - or a combination thereof preferred.
- Computer programming and statistical analysis experience preferred.
- Proficient verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Preferred previous work with FOQA program.
- Ability to navigate aircraft manuals and company manuals.
- Strong ability to utilize MS Office Suite, maintenance and operations software.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment across various departments and possessing good communication skills.
- Experienced capabilities in reading and understanding Airbus manuals.
- Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Experience consuming data from systems to create reports.
- Domestic & International travel under 10 of the time.
