The Manager, Process Improvement & Metrics, assumes the accountability for leading the process improvement function as well as the metrics and reporting development in the De Havilland Manufacturing/MRO asset cluster (as defined from time to time). This critical role has direct accountability for ensuring the continuous improvement of process, data, technology, automation, and other opportunities to improve the operational efficiencies of parts manufacturing, small assembly and aircraft assembly operations. The Manager Process Improvement & Metrics acts as direct liaison between operational management of the plants and the senior management of the function, creating key metrics, reporting, communications flow and data requirements. The Manager, Process Improvement & Metrics has primary accountability for ensuring the execution of short and mid-term improvement objectives and providing input into longer term facilities and operational planning.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct detailed analysis of business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead / Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights, and validate process inefficiencies
- Document current and proposed business processes using tools such as flowcharts, diagrams, and process maps to identify inefficiencies and areas of opportunity
- Lead execution teams to identify opportunities for improvements, including streamlining and standardizing processes, tools and templates as well as identifying opportunities to utilize automation and technology solutions
- Define the yearly Manufacturing masterplan and follow-up on key initiatives and projects
- Define the balanced scoreboard (BSC) as well as the key performance indicators (KPI) linked to the operation’s strategic priorities
- Be responsible for monthly masterplan reviews and Operations dashboards
- Develop the governance standards and ensure follow-ups on all operations sites
- Monitor and measure the impact of process improvements to ensure they achieve the desired results
Additional Accountabilities:
- Working closely with Finance and the operational units, ensure we have a clear understanding of our financial status, and we have established robust plans to meet our unit cost and profitability targets
- Maintain awareness of both external and internal competitive environment, opportunities for expansion, customers, new spanets, industry developments, and other relevant spanet data
Education and Experience:
- University degree in Finance/ Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience in aerospace, preferably in finance, manufacturing, MRO
- 6+ years in progressive leadership roles
- Prior experience in training others and leading group meetings is essential
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Experience with process mapping, flowcharting, and other process improvement tools (Visio)
- Professional registration in a related continuous improvement designation is an asset (eg. Lean Six Sigma)
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Prepare ad-hoc, as necessary, and routine reporting for senior executives, including progress against plans; identification of material risks and mitigation strategies thereon; and others as requested
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to gain, and keep, a Restricted Airside Identity Card (RAIC) security clearance.
- Travel will be required therefore the successful candidate will be required to maintain the ability to legally travel both domestically and internationally.
