What the position is:

The Continuous Improvement Manager will be an individual contributor reporting to the Sr. Manager of Resource Planning & Continuous Improvement and will be responsible for eliminating waste and finding efficiencies through the application of Lean principles at CommuteAir. This role analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing business processes and develops sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process and efficiency improvements. The successful candidate will work closely with all levels of the organization, from senior leadership to on-site management and hourly personnel.

Essential functions:

  • Operational Support and Improvement: Utilizes continuous improvement techniques and concepts with the intent of improving process and workflows, maximizing spatial utilization, reducing operational expenses, and improving productivity to assist the management team in achieving business objectives and operational excellence.
    • Identify and lead process improvement activities to maximize efficiency and minimize waste
    • Identify, measure and track KPIs most relevant to the success of the specific project (e.g., TATs, labor productivity, efficiency and overtime, scrap rates, parts availability/inventory, etc.)
    • Develop process documentation and standard work procedures
    • Direct process and value stream mapping (VSM) activities
    • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving sessions to address issues related to safety, quality and delivery
    • Conduct Lean Kaizen workshops as necessary to drive business results
    • Ongoing verification and validation of existing production standards through process analysis and time studies
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executive leadership. Establish and maintain rapport, actively engaging in Lean initiatives and supporting the organizational vision.
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting: Collaborate with teams to develop methods for tracking and reporting KPIs related to process improvement initiatives, organizing process improvement studies, analyzing results, and recommending strategies.

General requirements & qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, supply change management, mathematics/statistics, Operations Management, or another relevant field
  • Previously demonstrated expertise in Six Sigma, Lean, Process Improvement or leading a QMS or Quality Management Program (Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is required), with a minimum of 5 years’ experience required; in particular, candidate needs to demonstrate:
    • At least one successful, documented Lean Transformation
    • Experience with Standard Work, 5S, Material Flow analysis (MFA), Work Breakdown analysis
  • Prior aviation- or relevant aerospace-related experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills:
    • Ability to present ideas to a diverse audience, from hourly workforce to executive leadership
    • Confidence to influence peers and senior leaders
  • Demonstrated project and change management skills
  • Strong statistical analysis
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with a strong attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI and Outlook are required
  • Will require periodic travel up to 25.
