Position Title: Managing Director, Revenue Management (LSC)
Position Summary
The Managing Director, Revenue Management is responsible for strategy, development and execution of JetBlue’s pricing and yield management plan, maintaining and optimizing internal yield tools and systems, and delivery of $7B in annual flight revenue.
This individual serves as a key member of JetBlue’s Revenue and Planning team and is dedicated to working across the commercial organization to maximize flight revenue and develop creative revenue generating ideas that enhance the JetBlue brand.
The Managing Director is a high involvement leader who develops and coaches direct reports, leads a team of ~30 crewmembers, and is comfortable with maintaining a public profile. The Managing Director also excels when working on complex projects, is motivated to deliver results, and exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.
Essential Responsibilities
- Define and execute the overall pricing and yield management strategies for $7B in annual flight revenue to achieve team, department, and company goals
- Oversee all public and private pricing to set and execute strategies, maintain fares, monitor industry trends, and respond to market dynamics to maximize revenue
- Monitor and evaluate route and network booking information, price competition, market and capacity share and make appropriate strategic changes to maximize revenue per available seat mile (RASM)
- Develop and continuously improve business processes to drive maximum value from tools and systems to drive incremental revenue capture
- Lead introduction of new tools and systems and ensure change management minimizes time to achieve value from their introduction
- Ensure yield management strategies and teams remain nimble and can understand, anticipate, and influence customer behavior to increase profits
- Drive ongoing decision making on commercial policies, partnering with cross-functional leaders to ensure revenue and operational effectiveness and understand impacts to customers and crewmember
- Develop and execute commercial initiatives in conjunction with the Marketing, Planning, Sales, Loyalty, IT, Airline Partnerships, Groups, Customer Experience, and Paisly teams to create revenue opportunities that are aligned with Revenue Management strategies
- Provide ongoing updates to JetBlue’s Senior Leadership team on recent revenue results and trends
- Guide and influence other departments, including Corporate Communications, Customer Support, and Investor Relations on all inquiries regarding pricing and inventory
- Partner with other business areas in improving communication and teamwork to drive efficiencies
- Ensure team readiness for response to significant irregular operations and emergency events
- Effectively lead and motivate a team of ~30 crewmembers, including 2 direct reports
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement, and development of the succession plan for the department
