Our Digital Technology (DT) organization ensures that Raytheon teammates across the globe can communicate, collaborate and innovate for customer success. Linux Technical Lead- SME, based in Woburn, MA in infrastructure Workplace Services, collaborated with many teams to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you can develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems
What You Will Do:
- Providing leadership to support a varied range of administrative tasking, to include corrective/preventive maintenance, recurring operations functions, account management, and system optimization.
- Supervising administrators whose duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
- Coordinating system administrative support for training development/evaluations and operations and sustainment plans
- Participating in Change Request reviews, to include participating in Change Management boards at multiple program levels. Coordinating technical and process document reviews and resolving system administration, engineering, and integration issues
- Participating in and leading technical meetings with team members and other program personnel, and representing the organization in functional area matters
- Provide IT systems administration in RedHat Enterprise Linux environment.
- Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
- Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
- Travel is required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate. Up to 10 per year
- 100 onsite
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically, bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of direct system experience or a master’s degree and 5+ years of directly related experience.
- Must have an active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearance.
- Must have Linux experience.
- 8+ years of experience with some but not limited to, the following technologies: Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, Veeam, AWS, MySQL, Remote Desktop Gateway, and Netwrix, prior systems administration and networking administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, Windows administration, or Mac OS experience, backup, and recovery enterprise suites.
- Must have lead or mentor experience
Qualifications We Prefer
- Advanced Clearance & Compliance: Active DoD Top Secret (T5/T5R) and direct experience with RMF, NISPOM, JSIG, or DFARS.
- Security Certification: Current DoDD 8140/8570.01-M (e.g., Security+ CE) certification.
- HPC & Scripting: Proficiency in High-Performance Computing (HPC) within Linux environments, including automation/scripting and OS upgrades.
- Enterprise Systems: Experience managing virtual host solutions (VMware), patch management, and system monitoring across multiple geographic sites.
- Engineering Support: Proven track record supporting software, simulations, and hardware development teams in classified environments.
- Leadership & Communication: Experience leading technical teams with a focus on project management, technical presentations, and cross-functional collaboration.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
