Pratt & Whitney continually strives to maintain a world class safety and reliability record. The Operational Engines Safety & Reliability team within Engineering Product Integrity (EPI) is seeking a motivated and impactful leader to aid in the Safety assessment of the 5th Generation Warfighter. This is an exciting role to work across multiple functional teams, internal as well as external to keep our Warfighter flying and mission capable. The F135 System Safety analyst will work as an integral member of the team, working both proactive and reactive safety events. Working on the F135 team, you will help to sustain world class safety and reliability on the F135 Engine program and participate in the flight safety processes, including Safety Issue Management L3/ESW, Safety Risk Assessments, and utilization of customer safety guidance (e.g., Mil Std 882, USAF Safety Best Practice 99-06, System Safety Program Plan). The selected candidate will work closely with Safety Databases (FMECA, DFMEA, OSHA, SSHA). This is a high energy role which offers an opportunity to collaborate with individuals from multiple levels of P&W, aircraft manufacturers, and regulators. High level visibility in presenting tasks to the Executive Safety Board and Integrated Program Management teams (IPMT) leadership
What Will you Do:
- Perform quantitative safety risk assessments on gas turbine propulsion systems, identify flight safety hazard and provide guidance and mentorship within the program. Develop quantitative models blending engineering insights and statistical methods to determine required fleet actions.
- Participate in the Internal Safety Reviews (ISR) and Ensure accurate Safety Issue Status (SIM) status, proficiency in SharePoint tools and management of data.
- Coordinate with P&W technical experts to identify and document engine event sequences that could result in a hazard to the propulsion system. Produce propulsion hazard assessments and manage hazards within the PW Safety Process.
- Understand safety threshold guidance as it applies to both P&W internal and external customers.
- Occasional Travel up to 10 within the United States
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 8+ years of experience in Engineering or 5+ years engineering experience with an Advanced Degree
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.
- Gas Turbine or Electric Engine Knowledge
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Strong analytical background, preferable with computer programming or extensive Microsoft Excel (VBA) or other programming language
- Strong technical writing skills

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney. To help shore up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement. We may look to open these opportunities upon more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.
The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
