Primary Objective of the Position:The Director, Training will provide leadership to the Flight Operations Training Department to achieve company goals and objectives associated with safety, security, reliability, operational efficiency, productivity.
The Director, Training is accountable for ensuring all aspects of departmental training comply with Transport Canada CARs 705 requirements.
Essential Position Functions:- Required to have a thorough knowledge of all Transport Canada training related regulations and industry standards.
- Design, develop, implement, and administer all pilot flight and ground training programs.
- Coordinate with planning department for administration of flight training and simulator schedule
- Accountable for the day-to-day operation of Cargojets flight training program delivery.
- Accountable for maintaining compliance with all training standards established by Cargojet.
- Accountable for training records compliance.
- Accountable for the standardization of flight operations training through the respective ground/flight training instructors and standards pilots.
- Evaluates training requirements and identifies specific training solutions to support our operations teams with industry leading training curricula and delivery methods.
- Coordinate with the Chief Pilot and Senior Vice President of Flight Operations to ensure operational safety and standardization of procedures for training delivery.
- Implement safety risk management processes within the flight training department that supports the principles of the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Adhering to the Cargojet Safety Policy supporting the principles of the Safety Management System (SMS) and utilizing the safety reporting program in order to identify and communicate all known hazards and risks to the organization.
- Supervise, train, monitor, and assess instructor performance.
- Oversees all instructors for all training delivery and professionalism of the instructors.
- Ensure proper instructor staffing to complete all required training.
- Carry out some flying and training responsibilities, as assigned from time to time.
- Duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Cargojet Flight Operations Manual (FOM).
- Supervisory Responsibilities include the Director Training functions and supervision of Ground Instructors, Flight Training Instructors, Simulator Instructors.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot.
Minimum Qualifications:- Previous airline management experience
- Previous CAR 705 Training Experience
- Experience as Pilot-In-Command CAR 705 operations
- Experience as a Line Training Pilot and/or Simulator Instructor
- Experience as an ACP
- Strong Communication skills (written and oral)
- Computer literacy and strong Microsoft Office skills
- Proven record of project planning and execution
- ATPL, B-757/767 Type Rating, required flying hours and experience to hold a Captains position
