Role Summary
The Director, Analytics sets the long-term strategy and oversees the performance and execution of analytics, reporting, and decision support across the divisions to drive safety, reliability, cost performance, and guest experience. As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction for a team that serves as a center of enablement for all operations, providing trusted metrics, actionable insights, scalable reporting, and analytical expertise. The Director shapes analytics roadmaps aligned to operational priorities, establishes management systems that drive performance and accountability, ensuring consistent operational KPIs across Operations in collaboration with Enterprise Analytics, Technology, and AI teams to advance and scale real time operational insights.
Key Duties
Establish and oversee management systems and governing core KPIs by defining metrics and performance frameworks to ensure reporting and analysis are accurate, actionable, and consistently applied across the organization.
Provide trusted insights, analysis, and recommendations to leadership that drive decision-making and performance in core forums, including OPL and other management system reviews.
Establish the strategic roadmap and direction for a team of highly skilled analytics professionals focused on driving analytics and data strategy.
Lead cross functional analytics delivery and integration by acting as the primary liaison between Operations, Enterprise Analytics, ITS, and Data Science, coordinating delivery of reporting, and predictive analytics, and embedding analytics strategy into Operations technology initiatives.
Advance analytics capabilities and innovation by integrating advanced analytic methods, data science, AI, and agile delivery practices into operational reporting and decision workflows, while ensuring scalability, data quality, and governance standards.
Lead and develop a high performing Analytics team by setting clear priorities, while building capability, coaching and mentoring leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Leverage work downward to optimally utilize subject matter experts and to create development opportunities for team members at all levels.
Influence senior stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Technology, and external partners to drive adoption of analytics, translating sustained operational actions, and deliver measurable business value.
Develop and manage budgets that support enterprise analytics.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in analytics and operations, applying relevant innovations to improve outcomes and productivity.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
8 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data, or related disciplines, with demonstrated application in complex, operationally intensive environments.
5 years of leadership experience, including at least 2 years directly leading and developing teams.
Bachelor’s degree in business, with a focus in either Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Demonstrated success driving measurable business and operational outcomes through analytics, reporting, and data driven decision support.
Proven experience as a BI and/or advanced analytics practitioner, including strong working knowledge of statistical methods, analytical modeling, and operational performance measurement.
Solid understanding of modern data architectures, cloud based analytics platforms, and enterprise data concepts.
Experience working within Agile or iterative delivery models to deploy production level analytics and reporting solutions.
Strong executive presence with the ability to clearly translate complex technical and analytical concepts.
Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization to influence outcomes without direct authority.
Strong problem-solving skills, using sound judgment, and attention to detail, combined with the ability to set priorities, make tradeoffs, and lead through complexity and change.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Experience in aviation, transportation, logistics, or other safety critical, operationally complex industries.
Master’s degree preferred in Business Administration (MBA), Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Operations Research, or related field.
Experience supporting large-scale operational organizations with analytics, management systems, and performance measurement (e.g., reliability, cost, capacity, day‑of‑operation).
Familiarity applying advanced analytics, predictive modeling, automation, or AI to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
Experience leading analytics transformation efforts, including operating model changes, capability maturation, or modernization of BI and reporting environments.

$198,450-$307,600 / year
Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)
$257,985-399,880
Salary Details
The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We dont typically hire at the top of the range.
