Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Director of Quality and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring an organizations products, processes, and operations adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement an integrated quality and EHS strategy aligned with organizational goals.
    • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on quality, safety, and environmental matters.

 

  • Quality Management:
    • Establish and maintain a robust quality management system (QMS), ensuring compliance with standards like AS 9100/AS9110.
  • Ensure the FAA/EASA certificates – Production Certificate and Repair Station 145 Certificate are supported with adequate procedures and resources to assure proper compliance to regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee quality control and assurance processes throughout the product lifecycle or service delivery.
  • Assesses product specifications of the company and its suppliers and compares with customer requirements.
    • Manage supplier quality, conduct audits, and ensure product quality requirements are met.
  • EHS Management:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
    • Conduct risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and incident investigations.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, local, state, and federal).
    • Develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees.
  • Administers the workers’ compensation claims program ensures that the corporation is following applicable laws and regulations and develops accident prevention programs
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Collaborate with various departments (e.g., operations, engineering, HR) to integrate quality and EHS considerations into business processes.
    • Communicate with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders as needed.
    • Lead and mentor EHS and Quality teams, fostering a strong culture of safety and quality. 
Job Requirements:

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Leadership and management skills, including the ability to build and motivate teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially for identifying root causes and developing solutions for quality and safety issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with stakeholders and providing training.
  • Project management skills for implementing new initiatives and driving continuous improvement. 
  • Establish, maintain and optimize an effective quality management systems (Part 21 Production and Part 145 Repair Station).
  • Drive continuous improvement in the quality systems.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Quality Management).
  • Extensive experience (typically 7-10+ years) in EHS and/or Quality leadership roles, preferably within the specific industry.
  • Production Certificates/Repair Station 21/145 Certificate experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable FAA regulations as well as previous experience interacting directly with the FAA required.
  • ISO/AS9100/AS9110 Experience required. Quality system experience associated with US government contracting, DCMA oversight and interface.

  • Airframe & Powerplant License a plus
  • ASQ – Certification by the American Society for Quality a plus
  • CMQ Manager – Certified Quality Manager a plus
  • 40- Hour Hazwoper Certification
  • CSP - Certified Safety Professional a plus
  • CIH - Certified Industrial Hygienist a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt a plus
