The Assistant Vice President, IFR Services is responsible for the providing the overall direction for the corporate and Operations strategic plans and is accountable for the safe, cost effective and efficient delivery and management of IFR air traffic services and airspace management within the regions. The role is also responsible for directing the talent management of specialized personnel in the regions, including training, due diligence and skill development. The role serves a key member of NAV CANADA’s leadership team and will be accountable for all IFR activities. The AVP IFR Services collaborates with all AVPs throughout the different business units of the Company. The role is an ambassador for NAV CANADA, builds key relationships and collaborates with important stakeholders, leading a broader awareness of the organization and its mission.Job Description
In this role you will:
- Develops and maintains a team of ATS professionals with the capability and motivation to deliver the required range of IFR services and programs in a high quality and cost-effective manner.
- Provides strategic advice to the VP and Chief of Operations, executives and senior stakeholders on complex and controversial IFR related issues.
- Establishes the corporate technical direction and required investments, ongoing cost/ maintenance requirements and expected service performance within each FIR to meet NAV CANADA’s operational requirements, service performance goals and developments.
- Establishes strategies for the IFR processes and business requirements of NAV CANADA.
- Responsible to support training, skill development and appropriate succession planning for the regions.
- Acts as a trusted advisor and thought partner on operational and strategic business issues. Drives workforce planning efforts in alignment with short and long-term business needs.
What you bring:
- 10&43; years in progressive leadership roles.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the technical infrastructure of the Air Navigation System and Air Traffic Management
- Broad knowledge of the global aviation industry and NAV CANADA’s customers.
- Understanding of IFR operations and procedures in Canada and the collaborative relationship between airlines, airports and ANSPs.
- Proven inclusive, collaborative, and consensus-building management style
- Proven track record of success managing complex multi discipline operational environments
- Experience supporting leadership teams in multi-stakeholder and regulated environments.
- Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.

Working Conditions:
- This position is hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week in office.
- Frequent Travel required
- Bilingual or willingness to learn French
