The Tooling and Test Fixture Section is a team of Mechanical Engineers who support the Advanced Product Center and their customers. The Mechanical Engineer I will be responsible for all aspects of the Special Tooling Mechanical design. This includes design conception, to CAD modeling and drawing completion of low to moderate complexity Special Tools and Special Test Fixtures under the general supervision of a team lead.
What You Will Do
- Design, drawing creation using Creo Parametric
- Obtaining quotes for make versus buy decisions for fabrication and assembly
- Following proper documentation and tracking guidelines for customer owned property
- Support of Special Tooling once the product build has started.
- Support assembly of your designs
- Support of automated test set design, build, and assembly
- Implement mechanical engineering best practices in planning, development, and execution of scope, schedule, and budget.
- Effectively communicate technical information to project leads and in design review settings
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience;
- An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 5 years of experience
- Proficiency with 3D modelling using Creo (or equivalent) and ACAD.
- Two years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including a basic knowledge and understanding of GD&T
Qualifications We Prefer
- An advanced degree in a related field
- Understanding of the product build process.
- Experience with the design process as outlined above. Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and machined parts design, DFMA practices, and utilization of hand tools
- Ability to quickly learn the SAP Property System (SPS).
- Ability to work with external suppliers.
- Ability to adapt to changing product requirements.
- Effective communication skills.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
