Position Summary
The Tactical Planner reports to the Manager of Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) Planning and schedules maintenance events during the operational day to maintain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory compliance. The Tactical Planner is responsible for ensuring all maintenance is scheduled within the required time providing viable options necessary to route, re-route, and swap aircraft flying lines to accommodate the planned maintenance requirements. The Tactical Planner ensures no overfly activity of maintenance tasks while balancing the needs of Technical Operations, System Operations, Marketing, and other internal/external customers. Tactical Planners have the responsibility for actions required to accomplish repositioning of aircraft for maintenance needs. This also applies during Irregular Operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensures that the required maintenance is scheduled within the calendar, Flight-hour and flight cycle limits as specified by JetBlue’s approved maintenance programs, Federal Aviation Regulations, Airworthiness Directives and Special Instructions.
- Works closely with Systems Operation Center (SOC) to manage TOPS and routing changes such that all maintenance events are scheduled within the time interval (i.e. flight hours, cycles, etc.) of the task while accounting for manpower, ground time, parts, tooling, facilities, weather, etc.
- Ensures all scheduled planned maintenance is planned correctly after any swap/reroute event.
- Respond to all requests for deferred/busted tasks and reschedules all deferred maintenance to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Tracks accomplishment of Aircraft Service Checks, as well as other low-time items, including Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs), Long Term Deferrals (LTDs), Non-Essential Furnishing (NEF), and collaborate with Aircraft on Ground (AOG)/Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) for execution.
- Tracks accomplishments for daily re-inspects and scheduling every Flight Cycle (FC) re-inspect to be cleared.
- Assists with the recovery plan in the event the system operation is impacted by delays or cancellations.
- Ensures compliance with and tracking of aircraft to designated maintenance locations to meet projected induction date into JetBlue system (i.e. maintenance ferries, repositioning flights, etc.).
- Responsible for actions required to accomplish repositioning of aircraft for maintenance needs. Complete the GenDec form and transmit the document to the cockpit crew.
- Collaborates with System Operation, Airports, and Technical Operations Leadership to identify operational issues which impact necessary ground time for planned maintenance.
- Provide a written Turnover report to the oncoming Planner and will also provide a copy to the MOC Duty Manager.
- Coordinates with business partners.
- May perform other job duties as assigned within Tactical Planning.
