The Commercial Flight Controls Division, headquartered in beautiful Ogden Utah is a global leader in aerospace flight controls.
We are the preferred supplier of flight control solutions for the commercial, regional, business jet and advanced air mobility spanetplace by offering a premier customer experience with superior engineered products that exceed our customer and regulatory requirements. We’ve broken ground with more-electric technology and electromechanical flight control systems. POSITION SUMMARY
Working in a team environment with limited supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic – Equipment is responsible for a variety of semi‑complex maintenance and repair tasks in one or more of the following areas: equipment and production machinery, plumbing, carpentry, painting, air conditioning, and general facility maintenance. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in the removal, repair, installation, and relocation of machine tools, including air and water line installation, machine alignment, and adjustment for production operation.
- Assist in diagnosing defects in equipment and perform necessary repairs to restore operation.
- Perform repair and preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment:
- Hydraulic systems and related components
- Machine tools and production machinery
- Building plumbing and related equipment
- Relocate production machinery and parts as required to support layout changes and new equipment installs.
- Construct, install, maintain, repair, and overhaul test stands, fixtures, and related hydraulic equipment.
- Set up and operate arc and acetylene welding equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Perform high‑pressure tubing and hose fabrication and support machine contamination control practices.
- Perform tube bending and piping fabrication for hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
- Plan, lay out, and construct additions, partitions, benches, shipping boxes, and other carpentry projects.
- Coordinate purchase, inventory, delivery, and pickup of hazardous materials in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate packaging, labeling, storage, and scheduling pickup of hazardous waste for offsite disposal.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping (5S) practices.
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Equipment
- CNC mills, lathes, and multitasking machines (e.g., Haas, Mazak, Okuma, DMG Mori, Doosan).
- Controls and automation (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain; Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLC interfaces).
- Motion systems (servo drives/amplifiers, VFDs, encoders, linear scales).
- Mechanical systems (spindles, ball screws, linear guideways, rotary tables).
Plant utilities and support systems (hydraulic power units, pneumatic circuits, coolers/chillers, lubrication).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of related maintenance experience or demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities described above.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
- Possession of required hand tools for the trade.
- May require ability to set up and operate carpentry, hand, and power tools.
- May require familiarity with pump and valve overhaul procedures, particularly for aerospace‑related equipment.
- May require working knowledge of national, state, and local electrical codes.
- May require knowledge of general hydraulics technology (pumps, cylinders, accumulators, filters, piping), including tube bending and piping fabrication for hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
- May require knowledge of chemicals and their characteristics and proper handling procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical diploma/apprenticeship in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Experience with Fanuc servo/drive diagnostics, Siemens/Mitsubishi controls, and Allen-Bradley PLC I/O.
- Familiarity with laser calibration, ballbar testing, vibration analysis, and precision metrology tools.
- OEM service experience or prior work on Haas, Mazak, Okuma, DMG Mori, or similar platforms.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting (input/output verification, ladder logic navigation).

Tools and Methods Used
- Metrology tools: dial indicators, test bars, granite squares, micrometers.
- Alignment tools: laser alignment, ballbar systems, precision levels.
- Electrical tools: multimeter, clamp meter, oscilloscope (basic), megger.
- Diagnostic software and OEM utilities for control and drive systems.
