Your work will contribute to the production, design and services of jet engines, components, and integrated systems of Aeroderivative Engines which are derived from commercial or military aircraft engines. This opening is for a Lead Engineer role for LM2500 engine line. The LM2500 is an industrial and marine variant of the aircraft engine CF6-80C2 that has been modified for to power oil & gas, electrical and military & commercial marine applications. You’ll be part of a team that embraces your drive, your curiosity, and your unique ideas and perspectives. You’ll learn and achieve as part of an on-going LEAN transformation. This position has the flexibility of optional hybrid schedule once fully trained. The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical designs for assigned hardware that satisfy program and internal design requirements.
  • Integrate collaboratively with diverse teams from multiple disciplinary functions such as thermal design, aero design, and systems design.
  • Uses engineering judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
  • Effectively using LEAN principles for daily work
  • Manage projects per project management office (PMO) requirements.
  • The person in this role will complete design reviews, drawing releases, quality requirements, assembly analyses, amongst other activities.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Support the team in preparation for technical reviews.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing, repair and test & field issue resolution under mentorship of senior engineers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors /Masters/PhD in Mechanical Engineering specialization with strong academic track record
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering in related field especially in mechanical design
  • Strong Systems Thinking, Risk Abatement and Problem Solving
  • Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities, influencing skills and conflict management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • PMO certification
  • Familiarization of FEA tools especially Ansys.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Ability to guide and influence others.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively
