Turkey Technology Center (TTC) in Kartal/Istanbul is one of GE Aerospaces nine engineering centers throughout the world with nearly 400 engineers working on aviation-related R&D and innovation projects that expand with new investments.Lead Design Engineer will be a part of the Advanced Mechanical Design teams, responsible for the mechanical design activities of various module and components for the next-generation engine programs and relevant technology demonstrators, execution of design review cycles/ hardware releases and test support for the technology demonstrator rigs, Ground Test and Flight Test Demo engines. Essential Responsibilities:
- Execute the design of parts in technology demonstrator programs leading/performing component/assembly level design assessments for engine hardware in accordance with the required best practices
- Work closely/efficiently with global teams performing module and component level design adhering to business standards, practices, procedures and product/program requirements
- Contribute and adhere to daily management routine, standard work activities and work aligned with KPIs
- Working closely with technical leadership, develop a project plan establishing work packages, milestones, objectives in accordance with program schedule
- Document lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement
Requirements:
- BSc and/or MSc in Mechanical or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical component design engineering
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated skills, familiarity or ability to learn CAD modelling and simulation tools
- Strong cross-functional teaming, coordination and communication skills
- Highly motivated, self-starter who is passionate about inventing the next generation of aviation technology
- Demonstrated accountability, ownership skills and diligence in meeting commitments within tight and fluctuation schedules
- Ability to guide and influence others
Desirable Qualifications:
- Mechanical design experience in relevant industry positions (aviation, defense, automative, energy, home appliances, etc)
- Knowledge of different engine platforms and architectures, able to make meaningful benchmarking to leverage
- Creativity, able to demonstrate multi-skilled execution
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fluctuating environment with flexible attitude
- Ability to right-size, delivering results and concepts with the calibrated level of assessments
