Job Description:

Twin Cities Aviation is a family owned and operated aircraft maintenance service business in operation since 1997, focused on EXCELLENCE and QUALITY SERVICE. TCA is an FAA Part 145 Repair Station, as well as a Cirrus and Icon Certified Service Center.

The Chief Inspector is primarily responsible for Quality Control, Inspections, Compliance and Training, including:

  • Part 145 Repair Station Compliance & Training
  • Ensure all Part 145 Repair Station Manual policies and procedures are
    followed.  
  • Assurance that FAR’s related to Aircraft Maintenance are incorporated
    into 145 Repair Station Manual Procedures
    • Conduct Employee training (e.g. OJT, coursework, etc.)
  • Technician write-up/sign-off audit & continuous training
    • Aircraft/Engine/Component Manual availability, currency
    • Periodic self-audits
    • Tooling calibration
    • Subcontracted vendor approval/audit
    • Receiving inspection (parts)
    • Shelf-life management (parts)
    • Parts documentation management (tagging)
  • Ensure all Factory Service Center requirements are established and adhered to (from a maintenance/operations standpoint).
  • Aircraft Inspections including detailed visual, FPI (10x)
    • Logbook (Records) Research and Documentation
  • ATF Policy and Procedure Compliance
  • Facilities safety and compliance management
    • Environmental process requirement compliance (e.g. EPA, etc.)
    • OSHA Documentation, Policy and Procedure Compliance
  • Aircraft Database Updates
  • Participation in aircraft maintenance, including:
    • 100 Hour/Annual Inspections
    • Progressive Maintenance
    • Troubleshooting & Unscheduled Maintenance of Mechanical and Electrical systems.
    • Engine Removal/Replacement
    • Composite and Metallic Structural Repairs
    • Avionics Software Updates
    • Aircraft jacking, lifting, towing and manual movement
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) possessing a current Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • Minimum Experience: 10+ Years in related aviation maintenance field.
  • Must have your own set of tools
  • Compliant to FAA Drug and Alcohol screening and background checks mandatory

Skills:

Administrative:

  • Prepare professional correspondence (e.g. via email, chat, text, etc.)
  • Utilize and maintain document organization systems (physical and electronic) foraircraft maintenance data.
  • Complete logbook entries as required to comply with FAA, Service Center and Company requirements
  • Conduct maintenance data research as needed.
  • Coordinate activities to meet required schedules.

Machine:

  • Mastery in use of a wide variety of hand tools (e.g. wrenches, screwdrivers, files, etc.) and common power tools (e.g. drill, saw, sander, air tools, rivet gun, die grinder, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the use of aircraft specific tooling (e.g. timing box, sheetmetal brake/shears, pitot/static testing box, aircraft jacks & tail stands, etc.)
  • General modern technology and software end-user learning aptitude essential.
  • Cellular telephone/Smartphone. Language
  • Mastery of verbal and written American English essential.
  • Other languages helpful (not essential).

Physical Demands:

  • Use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly wear protective gear, such as gloves or ear muffs.
  • Are often exposed to hazardous equipment (e.g. turbine engines, propellers, moving mechanical systems, heavy machinery, etc.). Appropriate measures must be taken to avoid injury.
  • Are exposed to noise and vibrations on a regular basis.
  • Mostly work in hangars or in other indoor areas. However, may work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
  • Are exposed to chemical contaminants on an occasional basis.
  • Are sometimes exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding.
  • Are occasionally exposed to cramped work places that require getting into awkward positions.
  • May work close to others, such as within a few feet or directly with another as a team.

Supervises: Level III

  • Supervises other employees and contractors within the department.
  • Supervises activities of vendors accomplishing tasks related to job responsibilities.
  • Establishes policy/process in coordination with the company President.
