In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design, manufacturing and delivery of the new HPT stage 1 blades for the GE9X program, with the objective to mature the design and meet the program objectives in terms of Time On Wing.

The design activities will include all blade characteristics, i.e. casting, machining and coating definition. During the design phase, you will tightly collaborate with the manufacturing teams to ensure producibility and cost control of the new designs. Once designed, you will lead the definition and the execution of component tests (PSP, Porcupine) and engine endurance tests, including post-test teardown, hardware evaluation, model correlation.

The objective is also to improve the state-of-the-art of turbine mechanical systems by opening the design space and introducing new technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all products
  • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and methodology to recommend improvements.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering.

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience in design of Turbine Airfoils or other Superalloy components.
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams.
  • Experience with Ansys and Unigraphics.
  • Documented experience of being a self-starter with a passion for problem solving and driving solutions, while constantly learning and mentoring others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
