Position Title: Sr. Supplier Development Engineer

Reports to: Manager External Quality
SUMMARY
This role involves developing strong partnerships with suppliers, leading project assessments, and facilitating supplier development plans to improve processes, reduce waste, and optimize cost and producibility. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and team collaboration skills are essential, along with the ability to travel frequently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess and qualify new suppliers based on their capability to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
Collaborate with procurement and supplier quality teams to conduct in-depth evaluations of supplier facilities, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead formal project assessments and manage all project lifecycle phases.
Provide clear vision and strategy for supplier development to internal teams and suppliers.
Monitor and analyze supplier performance metrics, including quality, delivery, and responsiveness while ensuring suppliers comply with aviation industry standards such as AS9100 and FAA regulations.
Review and support technical evaluations and participate in design reviews.
Facilitate supplier meetings, technical interchanges, and status reporting.
Identify supplier selection criteria and conduct trade studies with stakeholders.
Work with suppliers and internal teams to develop products and processes and optimize producibility and cost.
Identify and resolve gaps in supplier capabilities for smooth product transition to production.
Perform validations for capability and manufacturability and conduct supplier risk assessments.
Develop performance tracking metrics and standardized processes for Product Readiness Review (PRR).
Establish effective yield metrics and performance indicators with key suppliers.
Conduct supplier evaluations and support selection and development of new suppliers.
Apply process improvement techniques to maximize results.
Conduct frequent supplier site visits.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related Aeronautical technical field required.
Minimum of five years’ experience in Manufacturing/Assembly Operations, Quality, Engineering.
Ability and willingness to travel as needed (50-75).
Six Sigma methodologies, Lean Manufacturing and/or PPAP (Production Parts Approval Process) preferred.
Advanced project management and continuous improvement skills.
Experience providing technical support for supply base activity.
Exceptional negotiation, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to mentor and coach suppliers to improve performance.
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated bias for action and initiative, including creative problem solving and a customer-focused perspective.
Strong team player with presentation and conflict resolution skills.
