The opportunity
The Wakulda System is a world-leading Air Defence C2 System. It is a network-centric ground-based air surveillance and control system, which supports C4ISR capabilities to conduct surveillance and air battlespace management missions. Boeing is responsible for delivering spiral upgrades over the next five years in a fast paced, agile and responsive development and sustainment environment, while maximizing mission availability for the Australian Defence Force. This role is a core member of the Wakulda Program leadership team. The role will report to the Boeing Defence Australia Joint Systems Engineering Manager but also be responsible to the Wakulda Program Manager for engineering execution. We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator who can engage and motivate a diverse and geographically dispersed teams. We need someone who is team oriented, influential, likes a challenge and operates well in a dynamic environment.
We work in a highly flexible environment, giving you the ability to determine how best to structure your working arrangement - be that partly from home or mostly from an office setting. The role is preferably to be based in Brisbane where the majority of the Engineering team is based.
Responsibilities:
- Support execution of overall Wakulda program objectives as a member of the core Wakulda Leadership Team
- Engineering management and organizational execution
- Managing accountability to engineering performance to plan
- Engineering teams construct, staffing, resources, and preparedness
- Coordination and prioritization of management across projects
- Supporting execution teams through collaboration, removing roadblocks, coordination up to the Program Management
- Employing efficiencies for execution while maintaining key engineering principles including safety and quality
- Manage team execution to cost and schedule baselines.
- Coordinate interdependencies and handoffs between teams
- Consistent metrics, reporting, communication, tools and processes across the entire engineering team.
- Lead and leverage multi-disciplinary teams, relationships, capabilities and resources to ensure timely decision making, issue resolution and help needed
- Develop and inspire front line leaders
- Be an advocate for diversity and inclusion and be actively involved in leading change
Experience/Qualifications
- Formal Qualifications in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated track record of leading the successful engineering execution of large and complex projects
- A proven excellent communicator who can engage and motivate diverse and geographically dispersed teams
- Experience interfacing with senior Australian Defence Force personnel (desirable)
- Leadership experience within a matrix organisation (desirable)
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
