Job Description SummaryThe VST Engineering Shop Focal is located onsite at Lynn Manufacturing plant, reporting to an Engineering Manager within the Edison Works Delivery Value Stream team. This role will be responsible for completing engineering activities to identify and accelerate cost out opportunities supporting the assigned manufacturing site.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross functional teams to identify and develop project ideas. You will help coordinate, plan, execute, and implement projects owned by engineering and manufacturing teams. You will coordinate with engineering teams to identify necessary engineering support to define and validate savings. You will partner with manufacturing teams to provide engineering support to aid in the implementation of projects. You will participate in cost and lean shop events as needed.

You may also perform other similar related engineering and / or supply chain tasks.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Have high levels of interaction with and exposure to engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and regularly exposed to commodity and industry experts.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses Engineering judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as needed.
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments within the shop.
  • Lead and own technical projects with varying levels of complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts.
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in design engineering

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
