Today’s dynamic global security threats require solutions both big and small – solutions living within the Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC). Boasting state-of-the-art design capabilities, multiple processing nodes, electrical testing, environmental and QCI screening, and failure analysis, the NGMC is a leader in designing, fabricating, packaging and delivering discriminating microelectronics to the military, aerospace, and commercial spanets.  For more than 70 years, we have been offering a wide range of trusted foundry and semiconductor services that deliver high performing and reliable microelectronics. Our wide breadth of technologies and capabilities allows us to provide our customers with unique “More than Moore” solutions.

The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department is seeking Test Systems Engineer to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.

This position requires full time work onsite at our Linthicum, MD OR Annapolis Junction, MD location.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support test and test development activities for Quantum electronics research and development.
  • Develop automated testing procedures for the characterization and validation of fabrication methods in superconducting devices.
  • Review test plans for accuracy and completeness.
  • Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.

Basic Qualificationsfor Test Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’ Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 2 years of relevant experience, or 0 years of experience with a Master’ Degree.
  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
  • Working knowledge in one of the following languages: Matlab, Python, C, or C++.
  • Strong analytic skills and familiarity in performing data analysis.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to team members both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance per business requirements.
  • Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
  • Working knowledge of standard design components: filters, couplers, splitters, amplifiers, etc.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic test systems: dilution Refrigeration, 4 Kelvin cryo-coolers, Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigeration (ADR) and liquid helium emersion.

NGMCENG

Salary Range: $83,300 - $130,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
