Job Summary
This position is accountable for assisting in the execution and delivery of the Naval Electronics’ supplier quality strategy. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you are accountable for providing oversight of suppliers, ensuring regulatory requirements, and executing proactive and reactive actions aimed at improving the quality of the products and services provided to our Naval Electronics business unit.
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate and disposition of non-conforming material at receiving inspection. Analysis of defects for determining if supplier caused and resolving defects with the supplier. Initiate and drive root cause and corrective action on process and product quality issues. Follow-up on supplier corrective action, evaluate responses and ensure objective evidence substantiates adequate closure.
- Create and Update Supplier Quality Alerts
- May lead product quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards
- Execute Supplier performance monitoring, reporting, improvement, and development.
- Provide technical support for Assembly / Test / Inspection personnel to include executing workmanship improvement plans, developing inspection methods and criteria, specifying appropriate sampling plans, interpreting, and revising specifications.
- Review and approve supplier documentation and provide input to assure that appropriate quality requirements are addressed
- Support Supplier Quality Engineers in the factory with containment actions and nonconforming material support
- Completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements

- Analyze and execute projects independently
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
- Develop and generate statistical reports on inspection activities and results, new product or process testing results, etc. and recommend action as required
- Consider financial impacts of quality process controls and inspections
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate customer, business or program meetings
- Prepare quality engineering reports and recommendations
- Provide regular reporting of progress and status
- Completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or a minimum of 2 years equivalent experience
- Novice technical expertise and application domain knowledge
- Basic knowledge of ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
- ASQ certification Familiar with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, Statistics
- Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
- Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality requirements
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
- Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
