Roles and Responsibilities
Engineering activities relating to the sciences of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
Develop and apply knowledge of the movement of air as a fluid through complex mechanical systems and the exchange of thermal energy between components.
Primary focus on combustor design, including thermal design and/or CFD
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Provides new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of experience in a related engineering role
Desired Characteristics
Advanced Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering with emphasis in heat transfer or fluid mechanics
Demonstrated experience with design, test, and analysis tools relating to thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, flow networks, or heat transfer.
Strong problem identification and solution skills
Experience with gas turbine design
Ability to plan, execute, and document engineering activities and coordinate several projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Shares critical information, speaks with candor, and contributes constructively
Ability to work independently. Demonstrated interest and experience in technical mentorship.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead with minimal guidance.
Creativity and initiative to lead improvements in products and processes.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
