Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Electronics Engineer (Mission Systems Deputy Sub-IPT Lead) to join our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization supporting NATO AGS Program.
The NATO Mission Systems deputy sub-IPT Lead reports to the Global Hawk Mission Systems sub-IPT Lead and is responsible for leading a cross-functional team for development activities.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead an engineering team consisting of Networks, Comms, Ground Segment, Payloads, and Specialty Subsystem engineers.
- Manage the Mission Systems NATO AGS development efforts.
- Plan, organize, and manage technical activities between the NATO AGS stakeholders.
- Develop and lead Engineering Change Proposals to include BOE development and long-term strategy.
- Serve as a Cost Account Management (CAM) and present to senior-level management on cost, schedule, and technical risks and issues.
- Perform integration and developments of hardware systems.
- Promote a collaborative environment between different disciplines and organizations resulting in teams that are able to effectively solve problems as they arise and proactively prevent things from becoming problems.

Once in role, this position could offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at managers discretion. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10 of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 6 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience leading an engineering team or project
- Previous Cost Account Management (CAM) & EVMS duties and responsibilities.
- Risk/Opportunity/Issue management experience related to complex hardware and software subsystems
- Experience with integration of electronics into a system of systems.
- Thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience with a network-based communication system to include line-of-site, beyond line-of-site, and satellite communications
- Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.
- At some point, the selected candidate may be required to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active in-scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Experience with complex issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with Global Hawk, NATO or Triton Engineering Experience
- Extensive experience with ground system architecture, communications, networks, and payloads
Salary Range: $171,000 - $256,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
