Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Thermal Analyst with experience in aircraft vehicle development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
In these roles, candidates may be involved in multiple aspects in the development of aircraft subsystems, such as analysis, verifying requirements, test data post processing, and working shipside to help troubleshoot issues. Candidates are expected to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. These aircraft subsystems include, but are not limited to, Environmental Control Systems, Liquid Cooling Systems, Fuel Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Fire Protection, and Secondary Power Systems.
Key responsibilities may include:
Tasking includes performing system related analysis in support of the development of aircraft subsystems as well as the integration of aircraft avionics and the installation of various aircraft hardware. Analysis includes, but not limited to, compartment temperature assessments as influenced by structural heat transfer and compartment heat sources.
Tasking may include performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis in support of aircraft subsystem integration and heat transfer modeling activities. May also include modeling fluid systems to assess fluid velocities and heat transfer coefficients over complex geometries.
Provide technical guidance and may coordinate a team of engineers in thermal science related activities.
Tasking may include system level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
Tasking may include system level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
Attending internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

Basic Qualifications:
Sr. Principal Thermal Analyst - Bachelor of Science (BS) in a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a related STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience.
Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
Must have professional experience in thermal analysis related to the development and integration of equipment on platforms, including requirements definition and verification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer disciplines
Experience with aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft.
Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems
Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software
Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516
Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures
Experience in supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs
Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relations
Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
