Build Software That Flies and ProtectsPDS Tech Commercial is searching for a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team developing software that powers next-generation aviation and missile defense systems. This role is ideal for engineers with a deep understanding of embedded systems who want their work to make a difference in national defense.
You won’t just write code — you’ll architect, design, and integrate the embedded software that ensures precision, speed, and security in complex real-time applications.
What You’ll Be DoingAs part of a collaborative and cross-functional team, you will:
Develop, design, and integrate software solutions for real-time embedded systems.
Perform deep analysis, debug complex issues, and deliver fully integrated, production-level software.
Support and evolve existing software, ensuring robust operation and high reliability in mission-critical environments.
Translate system requirements into clear, testable, software-level requirements and use cases.
Collaborate with SEIT teams on system concepts, external interfaces, sequences, and operational scenarios.
Author technical documents such as design specifications, algorithm documents, and functional design documentation.
Participate in proposal development and software architecture planning.
Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s, 6 years with a Master’s, or 4 years with a PhD.
Proficiency in C programming and object-oriented programming.
Experience with real-time embedded applications, including low-level firmware and secure RTOS development.
Familiarity with ARM architectures and peripheral integration.
Strong understanding of the formal software development lifecycle, from requirements through to verification.
Experience working in Agile environments using Jira, Git, and Bitbucket.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with missile defense systems, especially launch, targeting, and fire control.
Knowledge of hardware/software testing strategies, including hands-on missile or system-level testing.
Familiarity with PowerPC architectures, VHDL/Verilog, and FPGA-based design.
Strong cross-functional communication and team collaboration skills.
